Student Support Team


The SST is a team of specialized professionals working together to identify and support the academic, social, emotional and spiritual needs of students with exceptional needs at Florida Christian School.

The SST consists of the following areas of support:

Discovery Program

The Discovery program has been developed by the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD), and is designed to help students who have learning difficulties. Florida Christian has the only accredited NILD program in South Florida. Our team of specially trained and certified educational therapists work with students on a one-to-one basis, using techniques which have been researched and designed to help students overcome their deficits. Reading Program

Florida Christian School provides specialized in-school reading instruction for students who are in kindergarten through eighth grade. The reading clinic is recommended for students who need reinforcement in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Guidance and Counseling

The Guidance Department at Florida Christian School was formally established during the 1999-2000 school year. Since its inception, its goal has been to provide comprehensive guidance services to students in Prek-3 through 12th grade. For more information, please visit our Guidance and Counseling page.

College Guidance

The objective of the office of college counseling at Florida Christian School is to provide high school students and their families with the knowledge needed for college admission. This is an individualized process that begins in 9th grade and continues through the end of the senior year. For more information, please visit our College Guidance page.

Student Support Coordinator

The Student Support Coordinator collaboratively with administration, staff, and parents to provide support to at risk or pre-qualified students who have an IEP (individualized Education Plan), 504 Plan, Physician Statement of Diagnosis, Private Evaluation, and/or Psycho-educational Evaluation through the public school system that do not already receive support from the Reading Clinic or Discovery Programs. Support services may include but are not limited to classroom observations, development of classroom accommodations, student progress monitoring, teacher consultations/collaboration, staff development and direct student support as needed. Student Athlete Support

The Student Athlete Support Services will monitor FCS athletes and identify the need for extended testing time, classroom accommodations or other direct student support, as well as, SAT/ACT test preparation. For more information, please email the Student Athlete Support department.
