About Us

Pastor Robert Miller, a former missionary to Cuba, was asked by a group of parents to become the first principal of a new Christian school. Pastor Miller, along with seven board members, a group of Christian families, and about 100 students, came together and Florida Christian School was born. The school purchased an old church building which housed the entire student body of first through 12th grade.

Mr. Dick Costner, one of the original school board members, became the principal in the fall of 1969 and served until 1971.

Dr. Linton Fowler, also one of the original board members, took over the school’s administrator position and led FCS into a period of growth. A new two-story classroom building was completed in 1972 and additional property was acquired. The population of the student body grew to 750 students by the late 70’s and included preschool and kindergarten.

At the end of the 1981-82 school year, Dr. Robert Andrews became the school administrator. 

A second classroom building was completed and additional property was acquired.

A new school cafeteria was completed in 1994, and a gymnasium/auditorium complex was finished in 1997.

FCS purchased a 16-classroom school building with a 4.5 acre parcel of land which directly adjoins the western boundary of the main campus. This addition increases the maximum number of students allowed by zoning regulation to 1,420 students.

In the summer of 2004, lights were installed for all of our sports fields. In the fall of 2005, a new classroom/media center building was added to our facilities.

FCS bought new bleachers, remodeled the baseball field area, and added a sand volleyball court.

With the fall of 2010 came new football and soccer bleachers. During the summer of 2011, the first phase of the cafeteria remodel on the main campus was completed.

During the summer of 2012, all classrooms received Smart Boards and other technology, leading to the implementation of an iPad initiative as part of FCSMART.

In 2014, new playground equipment was installed on the main campus, and the west campus received its required 40-year re-certification (including parking lot lighting). Summer 2015 brought a campus beautification project with a new look for our buildings and grounds. All of the restrooms were updated on both campuses, along with new classroom furniture, lighting, and technology.

Dr. Robert Andrews retires after 39 years as Headmaster. In total, he had 49 years of educational experience with 47 of those years at Florida Christian School.

Dr. Jason Harrison joined Florida Christian School as the new Headmaster. Today, Florida Christian School is one of the leading private Christian schools in Dade County. The stability and experience of the school board and administration have proven to be a key element in the growth and development of the school. Together, we develop well-rounded students through excellent academics and extracurricular activities to change the world for Christ.
