3K-5th Grade Preschool & Elementary Program

A quality, Christian-based education in a family centric and safe environment

Educating the Whole Child

We understand the importance of students learning and growing in a positive school environment that offers long-term, secure relationships that support academic, physical, social, and emotional development. Education must inspire children’s creativity, imagination, compassion, self-knowledge, social skills, and emotional health. This is why we don’t only focus on one area of development, but we cultivate the whole child.

Faith: Your child will have the opportunity to grow in their faith through daily Bible lessons, curriculum with a Biblical Worldview, weekly chapel services, Spiritual Emphasis/Missions Weeks, and more.

Character: Once our students have discovered who they are in Christ, we want to train them to use their God-given talents and abilities to serve others. We provide our students and families opportunities to serve locally, such as family packing events for the under-resourced in our city, and globally through Operation Christmas Child.  The ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:22-23) are taught and modeled throughout our daily lessons, as well as character traits such as honesty and integrity.  Additionally, students are given numerous opportunities throughout the school year to develop leadership skills through STEAM projects, classroom presentations, and chapel/special events.

Emotionally: Through daily circle time (3K-4K) and class discussions (5K-5th), students are encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions on various real-world topics and encouraged and taught to be respectful of the opinions and thoughts of others in a loving and compassionate way.  For students who are experiencing personal struggles (ie. anxiety, loss of a family member, etc.), our on-campus licensed mental health counselors are available to assist and partner with parents.

Academics: Using a challenging curriculum with accelerated opportunities, a rich elective & fine arts program, and STEAM initiative with a focus on robotics and engineering, our preschool and elementary students are provided with a well-rounded education equipping them to reach their God-given potential.  Throughout daily lessons, teachers incorporate the 4C’s of Education: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication to develop future world changers.

Socially: By developing interpersonal skills such as sharing, communication, mutual respect, and collaboration, students are educated within their class ‘family’ in how to grow healthy friendships.  Additionally, we provide opportunities for building relationships with other students and families through summer socials and playdates, family friendly experiences, class holiday parties, and school-wide Patriot nation events.

Physically: Physical Education is not only important for the health of our students but also for their academic success. When they are given opportunities each day to exert their natural energy, students can focus more on their classwork and perform better. Physical Education classes, recess, healthy options for lunch in the cafeteria, and after school sports and activities through our Patriot Primetime program promote fitness and are all part of our students’ weekly education program.

Accelerated Phonics Classes

Kindergarten through 2nd grade has one class per grade level that is designated as the Accelerated Phonics class.  This Accelerated class will be going through the same phonics/reading curriculum as the other classes within that grade level, but at a much more rigorous pace and with additional higher-level novels/reading selections. These Accelerated Phonics classes are NOT "advanced" classes, as all other subject areas will be taught by the classroom teacher(s) using the same curriculum and at the same pace. Students will be placed in the Accelerated Phonics Class based on the following criteria: high performance on standardized testing in Reading, academic achievement in Reading/Phonics, and teacher recommendation.  The students in the Accelerated Phonics Classes represent the top students in that grade level in the subject area of reading/phonics.

Accelerated Math Classes

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade has one class per grade level that is designated as the Accelerated Math class. This Accelerated class will be going through the same math curriculum as the other classes within that grade level, but at a much more rigorous pace and with a higher emphasis in the areas of algebraic thinking and operations. These Accelerated Math classes are NOT "advanced" classes, as all other subject areas will be taught by the classroom teacher(s) using the same curriculum and at the same pace. The purpose of the Accelerated Math class is to best prepare students for the opportunity to take Pre-Algebra in 6th Grade. Students will be placed in the Accelerated Math class based on the following criteria: high performance on standardized testing in Math, academic achievement in Math, and teacher recommendation. The students in the Accelerated Math Classes represent the top students in that grade level in the subject area of mathematics.

Patriot Stars

Beyond our accelerated classes offered in each elementary grade level (5K-5th), our Patriot STARS program, modeled after our FCS High School Patriot Scholars program, provides high-achieving students in grades 2nd-5th the ability to reach new heights! Patriot STARS meet after school once a week to engage in enriching activities, STEAM projects, and leadership opportunities. To learn more about the Patriot Stars program, please click HERE.

STEAM Education

Proverbs 18:15 says “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” Through our FCS STEAM initiative, students seek out solutions to relevant problem-based units where science, technology, engineering, art, and math are combined through hands-on projects and student-led presentations.
In preschool, students begin with STEAM mini-projects where they are challenged to think outside the box by using collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity, as well as attend the Preschool Learning Center (PLC) daily for added hands-on learning. In 5K-2nd grade students attend weekly classes in our STEAM Studio where they are introduced to coding, robotics, art history and techniques, engineering in our Imagination Playground, as well as horticulture in our school garden. Our 3rd-5th grade students have the opportunity to build upon their prior knowledge and STEAM foundation through elective classes in art, robotics, band, and computers.
